Rainbow’s Ending/Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations
JUNIOR Hamble Players' first set of plays for young people was an intriguing double bill of an allegory about tyranny (Rainbow's Ending) and a very short amusing tale of
a boy with an overactive imagination.
Rainbow's Ending enabled the players
to develop their physical theatre.
The obvious engagement with this, together with their burgeoning skill, was apparent in the all girl cast.
Although their vocal skills have not yet developed to the same degree, and the
tale itself was somewhat tortuous,
their collective enthusiasm shone through,
winning over the audience.
Ernie's Incredible Illucinations, an early play by Alan Ayckbourn, is a charming and amusing little tale.
The production was lit up by the quirky central performances and the imaginatively staged depictions of Ernie's "illucinations".
Of particular delight was the boxing
match with a determined granny becoming the heavyweight champion of the world.
