There aren't many creators of video games that have become household names, but like Hideo Kojima (the man responsible for Metal Gear Solid 4, see above), Sid Meier has become one of those names. Dreaming up classics such as Pirates and Civilization, he's one hell of a gaming guru. Civilization Revolution is Sid's latest installment in the much-loved Civilization series and it has been built from the ground up for games consoles.

I can understand people having many skepticisms when it comes to Civilization being published for a console because the traditional PC keyboard and mouse control system has obviously been traded for control pads. But where the game was made with that in mind, the control system works both simply and comfortably.

For people that are new to the series, civilization is a game in which players are required to literally cultivate their civilizations. As your civilization moves forward, so does the time. The game spans thousands of years from caveman to spaceman, and provides players with an abundance of choices every step of the way. Will you concentrate on science? Will you have a lust for gold? Or maybe you just want to build a capital crunching army to pulverize the enemy with. The choice is yours.

The graphics and the sound aren't necessarily going to set the world alight but they are more than adequate to provide a pleasurable gaming experience in a genre rarely explored on console systems.

With the release of Civilization Revolution, there has never been a better time to get civilized.
