Why P.O.S.H dining is all the Raj
MOST people fall into two categories when it comes to Indian food - either they love it or they hate it.
So choosing a restaurant for a meal out can present a few problems with everybody's spice tolerance at different levels.
But next time you find yourself in that scenario, P.O.S.H - Port Out Starboard Home - British Colonial restaurant could be the solution your looking for.
Essentially it is an Indian restaurant but, as the name suggests, it's very different to the average curry house.
Themed on a cruise ship, you'll immediately feel as if you've walked onboard when entering this beautifully designed restaurant.
P.O.S.H offers a selection of dishes from India designed to reflect the multitude of different nationalities which have settled there and contributed to its cuisine.
The menu literally caters for every taste with everything from your usual tikka, madras or vindaloo to superb seafood dishes such as baked spiced seabass - fresh sea bass cooked in an interesting spice mixture, consisting of ginger, cloves, chilli powder, coriander leaves and lemon juice or king prawn dhansak - king prawns cooked with lentils, garlic, tomatoes and onions.
For those looking for non Indian main courses there is a section of British Colonial dishes on the menu these include; kedgeree - king prawns, flakes of cooked fresh salmon and onion stir fried in butter with boiled basmati rice, fresh coriander, cumin and garam masala - and Country Captain chicken - lean chicken breast stir fried with onion, a little masala gravy, tomato and lime juice - to name a few.
The popular restaurant has been running for seven years and has not only become known for their extensive menu but also for their daily buffet.
The buffet is the perfect choice for those wanting to sample a number of dishes. This three course menu is available for lunch from Sunday to Friday priced at just £6.50 and Sunday to Thursday evenings for £15 and Friday and Saturday evenings for £17.50 per person.
With the restaurant able to seat up to 200 diners at one time it also provides the perfect venue for any special occasion whether it's a corporate event, birthday celebration or wedding the friendly staff are more than happy to accommodate your needs.
