Finest cusine on the ocean waves
CRUISING has never been more
popular and one element of a holiday
afloat is the incredible range of
choices on a ship's menu.
This month the world's newest luxury
cruise ship, Eurodam, arrives in
Southampton promising a dining
experience that combines both innovative
dishes, created exclusively by
the vessel's top chefs, together with
a wide range of different restaurants.
Eurodam will also have a Culinery
Arts Centre where guests will have
the opportunity to watch demonstrations
as well as take part in handson
classes conducted by top chefs,
wine experts, and leading cookbook
authors. From a casual bite poolside
to a formal five-course affair in
Eurodam's classic main dining room,
passengers will be served the freshest
produce together with the best
quality meat and seafood.
Eurodam's owners, Holland America
Line, have also introduced "As You
Wish'' dining which provides completely
flexible option together with
the traditional pre-set seating and
meal-times. Each day of the cruise,
one level of the two-tiered restaurant
will be reserved for passengers
wanting to choose when they would
like to eat while the other section of
the dining room will host early and
main seating for dinner.
But this is just two of Eurodam's
many dining options which also
include 24-hour a day room service,
special children's menus in the Lido
and Terrace Grill, afternoon tea, an
ice cream bar, Explorations Café
serving espresso and pastries, complimentary
hors d'oeuvres during
cocktail hour, hand-dipped chocolates
in the Explorer's Lounge after
dinner and a late-night buffet.
Eurodam's Tamarind Restaurant
offers pan-Asian food and is located
on the uppermost deck where up
144 diners can look out over stunning
views, port and starboard.
Named after the famous 18th century
Venetian artist, the ship's
Canaletto Restaurant will serve classic
Italian fare with tableside service
at dinner.
Eurodam is due on Friday, June
27. After the official naming ceremony
in Rotterdam the vessel will
spend the summer cruising from
Copenhagen, then cross the Atlantic
to Canada & New England for a
series of autumn voyages, before
wintering in the Caribbean.
