Gordon Ramsay gives support to Hampshire Food Festival
Chef Gordon Ramsay has given his support to this year's Hampshire Food festival in July.
Gordon will write the foreword to the Festival programme.
Organisers Hampshire Fare, the county food group, are thrilled to have Gordon's support. Sophie Boxall, PR & marketing officer for Hampshire Fare said: "The Hampshire Food Festival is a showcase event for promoting the fabulous food and drink produced here in Hampshire.
Gordon now has a home in Hampshire and has great enthusiasm for sourcing ingredients locally. Gordon's support will help Hampshire Fare to raise the profile of The Hampshire Food Festival."
This year The Hampshire Food Festival will run throughout the whole of July, from the 1st to 31st, encompassing numerous events held at dozens of venues across the county. Derek Beaves, chairman of county food group Hampshire Fare said: "Feedback from 2007 festival goers showed that they wanted more weekend and evening events.
By increasing the festival to a whole month, we can include every weekend in July and the first week of the school holidays, giving more opportunity to take part.
The 2008 festival also celebrates the UK's Year of Food and Farming, which aims to help young people find out more about the countryside and where their food comes from."
The free Hampshire Food Festival programmes with Gordon's foreword will be published mid-May. To register to receive a programme, email hampshire.fare@hants.gov.uk or visit hampshirefare.co.uk.
Hampshire Food Festival is sponsored by Hampshire County Council and South East England Development Agency, with support from the South East England Food Group.
