 | A taste of royality | | 2:46pm Fri 1 Aug 08 | | I HAVE to admit, I have a huge soft spot for
Osborne House. It's the stately home
equivalent of a theme park - it has a bit of
something for everyone. Not only is the
house itself incredibly impressive - with lots
of strange themed rooms attesting to the
interesting' taste of Queen Victoria and Prince
Albert - but the grounds more than hold their
own too, boasting walled gardens, rolling
landscapes leading down to the sea and a very
continental terrace as well as a miniature house
that the royal children used to play in, an ice
house, a little museum of bizarre things from
around the world and more! |
 | The Hawk Conservancy, Andover | | 3:20pm Fri 25 Jul 08 | | If you're wondering what to do with a spare day off or how to entertain the
children during the holidays, a visit to the Hawk Conservancy in Andover offers an
interesting and educational experience. |
 | Alton Towers | | 3:19pm Fri 11 Jul 08 | | IT may seem a little far for a day out but it can be done in one day - just! The country boasts a number of fantastic theme parks but Alton Towers is the one for thrill-seekers. |
 | Debut for Underground Ernie | | 1:07pm Sat 24 May 08 | | The Eastleigh Lakeside Railway is to pioneer Days out with Underground Ernie on behalf of the railway heritage movement. The 10" gauge miniature railway has constructed scale models of Jubilee and Ernie 1, which star in the popular, children's computer animated television series created by Joella Productions and regularly shown on the BBC CBeebies channel. | User Rating: 10/10 | | Reader comment (1) |
| Take a family trip to the past | | 1:12pm Saturday 24th May 2008 | |
Forty years ago the opening of Fishbourne Roman Palace to the general public was a historic event. |
| Fantastic festival! | | 1:01pm Friday 23rd May 2008 | | One of the region's biggest arts festivals kicks off this bank holiday weekend. Salisbury International Arts Festival is celebrating its 35th year in 2008 with a host of new cultural experiences for visitors, particularly focusing on African culture. Here's Scene South's guide for which shows to look out for in the festival's first week:
Laurie Anderson, Tonight, City Hall, Salisbury
On tour in Europe with her new album Homelands, Laurie is coming to Salisbury to perform an exclusive retrospective show at the invitation of Jo Metcalf, festival director. For a chance to see something iconic and unique by a living legend (and newly-wed Mrs Lou Reed) then this is one definitely not to be missed. | User Rating: 2/10 |
 | It’s all Brighton beautiful by sea | | 4:17pm Fri 9 May 08 | | BRIGHTON is a "whatever the weather" destination. OK, yes, in an ideal world you'd want the sun to be shining so you could sit on the pebble beach with a 99 ice cream and possibly go for a paddle. | User Rating: 8.1/10 |
 | Hillier Gardens | | 2:24pm Sat 19 Apr 08 | | I'M a big fan of a little peace and quiet now and then. However, I find it's increasingly hard to come by. But moving away from the busy entrance of Hillier Gardens and their lovely restaurant, which really does serve exceptionally good food, there's 180 acres of tranquility to be explored here. |
