Take something as incredibly popular as Guitar Hero, mix it up with one of the biggest bands of all time and what do you get? Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It's undoubtedly going to be a popular game and undeniably going to be a welcome addition to the ever-expanding Guitar Hero roster. I can't imagine that there are many people out there that don't know any Aerosmith songs. Even people that don't like Aerosmith will know some of their bigger songs like Walk This Way, Love in an Elevator or Dream On.
The loading screens contain short facts about the band, so that you can brush up on your Aerosmith trivia. Also included are videos from aerosmith that are rewarded to players after completing gigs.
It's not just Aerosmith songs available to play, as the game also features artists and songs that Aerosmith are apparently inspired by or like. Run DMC, Lenny Kravitz and Stone Temple Pilots all make an appearance along with many more.
I must say that I was a little disappointed not to find Dude Looks Like a Lady amongst the songs. Is there maybe an additional download planned for later down the line? No, because the game is apparently going to be a stand-alone without any extras. Now that makes the £40 price tag seem a bit steep all of a sudden doesn't it?
The game is basically the same as Guitar Hero III being that gamers are required to press the correct button combinations at the right time on their guitar controllers. Essentially Guitar Hero is another Rhythm game, but it's a rhythm game that gave birth to the controllers that are aesthetically similar to real musical instruments.
There are many other Guitar Hero titles on the horizon including Guitar Hero: Mattalica, Guitar Hero: On Tour and Guitar Hero IV. I'm salivating at the very thought of all those Guitar Hero heavy weekends.
